HISTORICAL NOTE
Carus was a Roman emperor who ruled from 282 to 283 AD, after seizing power when proclaimed by his troops. During his short reign, he distinguished himself by leading successful military campaigns against the Germans and the Persians, achieving important victories in the East. His reign ended abruptly and mysteriously, as he died under unclear circumstances, possibly due to natural causes or an accident in the field.
