Philip I Philadelphus was king of Syria between 95 and 83 BC. He was the fourth son of Antiochus VIII Grypus. After the death of his brother Seleucus VI Epiphanes in 95 BC, he fought alongside another brother, possibly his twin Antiochus XI Epiphanes, against his cousin Antiochus X Eusebes for control of the kingdom. Although they initially managed to destroy the city of Mopsuestia, they were later defeated and his brother died in the battle.

Philip I ruled a part of Syria jointly with another brother, Demetrius III Eucarius. He later had to defend himself against internal attacks and managed to capture the city of Antioch. However, he was deposed with the conquest of Syria by Tigranes II of Armenia around 83 BC. It is mentioned that he wanted to go to rule Egypt but was prevented.
