GENS VOLTEIA Denarius. 78 BC M. Volteius. RARE MBC

ROMAN REPUBLIC. Denarius. 78 BC VOLTEIA. M. Volteius Mf
M. Volteius was a Roman moneyer (official in charge of coin production) active during the Roman Republic, specifically in the year 78 BC. His full name appears on coins as "M. Volteius M. f.", indicating that his name was Marcus Volteius, son of Marcus.

He is mainly known for the silver denarii he issued, which feature a remarkable variety of types and symbols, reflecting both religious and political aspects of Republican Rome. The Volteia family was not one of the most prominent in Roman history, but their activity in the Roman mint is well documented through numismatics.
