NUMERIANUS (283-284 AD). Antoninianus of Lugdunum. RIC V-353. MBC.

Numerian (Marcus Aurelius Numerius Numerianus) was the son of Emperor Carus and briefly ruled as co-emperor with his father and brother Carinus between 283 and 284 AD. His reign was short and turbulent, marked by military campaigns and his mysterious death during the return from an expedition in the East, which allowed Diocletian's ascension to the imperial throne.
