Charles II (1665-1700). Token. 1685. Brussels.
A token was a metallic piece, usually of copper, with a shape similar to a coin but without face value or legal tender as money. Its main function was to serve as a counting token in calculation and accounting operations, especially before the widespread use of Arabic numerals and modern written calculation methods.
